Working mechanism of Pressure washersBefore trying to find best electric pressure washer, we should first understand what is a pressure washer. A pressure washer is a simple mechanical machine, which is used commercially across the world for cleaning cars. The basic concept behind the pressure washer is that it uses a pump, which is either powered by electric motors or gas engines. The motors or the gas engine will amplify the water pressure thus will act effectively on the strains or dust and will force it out of the surface. Thus it is effectively used for variety of appliances which are used for cleaning. There are two connection points in a pressure washer pumps, one connection point for high pressure and another pressure point for low pressure. The low pressure connection is compatible with a normal garden hose and it can be threaded to the same. This is the input to the pressure washer. The output, which is the high pressure connection, is the M22 type threaded connection typically or sometimes it can also be a 3/8 inch QC that connects to the hand held wand. The most important component of the pressure washer is the pump and there are two types of pump that are usually used in pressure washers. Axial pumps are used in building pressure washers which are used to clean houses and are really very user friendly and also comes with lesser maintenance. Triplex pumps are ideal for the frequent usage and are comes with interchangeable nozzles, which can control the spray pattern. The wand size is usually 0.25 inch for quick connecting system. As it is used frequently, it needs frequent cleaning and maintenance as well. To ensure the quality and the performance doesn’t degrade over the years.
To increase the life of the pressure washer, we should ensure the pump works optimally and it is not over loaded. One of the best practices while using is to have the pump protector applied after every use. The pump protector will lubricate the pump’s seal and will prevent any settlement of corruptive elements like minerals or ice, which can cause corrosion. The two important unit that we all should remember with respect to pumps are PSI and GPM. PSI is one of the units of pressure, which is the abbreviation of Pounds per Square Inch. GPM is Gallons Per Minute, which is the unit of the water dispersed by the machine. The cleaning power of a pressure washer is determined by multiplying the PSI and GPM. Thus when you look for best electric pressure washers, we should look for a pressure washer with a higher cleaning power. The consumer electric motor models, offer a PSI from 1300 – 1800 range and have a GPM of 1.5 maximum, they are used in mostly used in residential scale, where the frequency of use is very less. They are very light duty and used for purposes like car washing, lawn furniture cleaning and other domestic uses. 2000 – 3000 PSI and a maximum of 2.8 GPM are delivered by consumer gas engine models, which are still used for residential purposes but they are of heavy duty grade. The professional gas engine models offer 3000 – 4000 PSI and a maximum of 4 GPM and are used in industrial scale and are really used in professional engineering scale. So just in simple words, a pressure washer is a machine, which uses pressurized water for cleaning strains and removing dirt of your lawn furniture or car or any other asset. It consumes lesser water than that of the normal garden hose based washing and consumes lesser time too. |
